St John’s Sunday Worship Services
9:00 am – A short service of Holy Communion using the Book of Common Prayer
10:30 am – Parish Communion using Common Worship, including hymns and a sermon. Once a month there are prayers for healing prior to the Communion. The Church Choir accompanies the worship.
We use music from various sources in our worship, e.g. Spring Harvest etc, but our main hymn books are ‘Songs of Fellowship’ and ‘Hymns Old and New’.
During the Communion Service, children meet in the halls for Bible-based activities. Children’s groups are:
Climbers – 3 to 7 years
Explorers – 7 to 10 years
Pathfinders – 10 to 14 years.
There is a crèche for children under three years during the 10:00 am Communion service.
An All-Age Service is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month. This is an informal service of worship and teaching. Contemporary Christian songs are used along with traditional hymns.
Refreshments are served after the 10:00 am Sunday service.
Other Services and Activities
Wednesday: 10:00 am Holy Communion (without music) including prayers for healing.
House Groups These usually meet twice a month in homes around the Parish, for Bible study, prayer and discussion. There are currently two groups meeting on Wednesday evenings (8.00pm) and one which meets on Tuesday afternoons (2.00pm). Contact the Church office for more details.
Mothers’ Union Meets regularly throughout the year to affirm Christian family life.
A prayer board is located in the Church lounge for personal prayer requests.
